The Inauguration Ceremony for Hood’s 11th president, Andrea E. Chapdelaine, Ph.D., was held at the Hodson Outdoor Theater on campus Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
The search for a new Hood College president began in September 2014 with the selection of an executive search firm and a 13-member committee comprised of College trustees, faculty, staff members, an alumna and a student.
After six months and five phases, the search committee, led by trustees Jim Reinsch and Amy Chan and search firm R.H. Perry & Associates, narrowed down the candidates to three. Hood faculty, students, staff and alumni were given a chance to hear from the final three candidates on campus and submit their input to help with the decision.
In February, the search committee announced that Andrea E. Chapdelaine, then-provost and vice president for academic affairs at Albright College in Reading, Pa. would become Hood’s 11th president. She began her tenure July 1.
Before the Inauguration Ceremony on Oct. 17, there was a Civic Engagement Awareness Week in honor of President Chapdelaine’s leadership and background in social psychology. Some of these events include lectures, events and service opportunities for students, faculty and staff. This initiative was highly successful, with over 400 service hours logged.
There was also an Instagram challenge to encourage student participation. To continue showing support for President Chapdelaine and Hood College, keep tagging your Instagram photos with #hoodproud!
